“There are some things which cannot be learned quickly, and time, which is all we have, must be paid heavily for their acquiring.”
Too many people are living the good life.
They live in a good neighborhood, have a good job, a good family, and this all seems so well, good.
But this is a problem.
You were not designed to live the good life.
You were designed to live The Greater Life.
The two most magnificent days in our lives are the day we are born, and the day you discover you were born for greatness.
The day we are born sounds incredibly obvious because first to live you have first to be born.
The second most magnificent day is when you discover greatness is inside of you, and this realization changes you forever.
There are no second chances in this life.
The sooner you realize this, the better off you are.
Hemingway said, “there are some things which cannot be learned quickly, and time, which is all we have, must be paid heavily for their acquiring.”
So with this, I am writing these letters to encourage you along the way in your journey, because your life is a beautiful gift.
Your time on earth is fleeting.
My Hope For How You Will Live A Greater Life.
My desire for you is to be a man of integrity whose heart is tender to the world you face.
It’s okay to be open to what others believe without agreeing to with their views.
Approach those who view life differently than you with a compassionate heart.
I desire that you are a man who drives towards his belief to know his Maker more intimately all the while abstaining from judgment towards those who do not believe as you do.
These letters are given to you because one day you will be a father and only then will you be able to understand the love a father has for his children fully.
To be your father is the greatest gift I have ever received. It has allowed me to witness the miracle of life in a moment, and see my love made flesh and blood.
My prayer and wish for you is that you will pass along the same love I have for you to the world around you.
Through your Maker you can share the hope which is in you – that is living.
I do not have all of the answers, but I do understand that in this life you will have many questions.
To some of those questions there will be answers and to some, there will be doubts.
Or, most difficult, no answers at all.
But do not worry, I and many others have walked those paths before.
I clearly see so much of you in myself even at such an early stage in your life.
The mirror of your reflection causes me to pause and remind myself of the tremendous responsibility I have to you.
I am learning to grow into what it means to walk in a path that is healthy and good.
To run towards my passions with direction and purpose. I have also felt lost and confused.
There have been times when God felt very distant.
I have also felt His consuming presence of comfort, peace, and love in powerful and unexplainable ways.
There have been times when I have felt hopeless, and there have been times when I had more hope than anyone I knew.
I have walked and carried burdens of friends and family through their worst times when I felt I had no strength of my own.
I have also had those same people carry me while they were drained of strength. I have had tears of sorrow and tears of joy.
In short. I am a man, as are you.
I also realize that you have your path to take and your own ways in which you will face this world.
And that is what these letters to you are about.
It is an attempt to share with you lessons of life so that you can use them for yours.
The letters I will share with you are real stories. They are about “ordinary” people like you and like me who have done extraordinary things.
These lessons are compiled from stories about my journey and others faith, love, finances, family, habits, work, mental toughness, and much more.
These letters are to inspire you never to give up – to help you pursue your life’s purpose.
But like anything in this life worth living for – your greater life is not easy to attain. There will be many challenges, heartaches, pain, and at times suffering.
At times you will question is it worth it?
Can I continue?
Am I good enough?
The answer is, yes.
The answer is you have to.
Many people in life are too scared.
Scared to fail.
Scared their dreams will never arrive because to chase your dreams in this life while also facing your fears is a beautiful adventure that far too many fail to realize.
Fear wins. Your why is smothered before it’s ever planted.
Your greater life is powerful because it is not your own. It’s a gift given to you by your Creator so that you can use it to share and impact the world around you.
Your why in life is such a tremendous responsibility that if people were to understand it fully, they might believe themselves to be a god.
The why’s in this life have impacted the world around us.
I believe if people would look at their lives, not in their present circumstances, but focusing their lives on the space of finite time it would drastically change their perspective.
Our Maker says our life is a vapor which appears for a little while and vanishes away.
Think about that. A vapor.
Time is so powerful.
We all need more of it, and we all run out of it.
Let’s go. There is no time to waste.
