3 Insights From This Episode
1.To Be A Greater Leader, Lead Yourself First
A lot of leaders want to be great, but they aren’t great at leading themselves first. This is the most important thing any leader can do is to understand who they are.
Asking some of these questions will help you lead yourself better:
- What am I good at?
- What areas of my life do I need to grow?
- What are the steps I will take to get better?
- Am I looking out for my own interests or the interests of those I lead?
2.Great Leaders Do This
A lot of leaders believe they have all the solutions.
These leaders are unaware that this thinking stunts the growth of those the lead as well as the organization they are wanting to grow.
Great leaders are note takers and listeners.
Great leaders realize they do not have all the anwers, and they intentionally make time for people to bring their best ideas to solve problems.
If you are always the one giving the answers, ideas, or solutions in the room, stop now. Those you lead will grow and so will you.
3. Invest In Others
Invest in others by developing a system that will allow you to do so.
Put time on your calendar and pick out a person each week that you want to invest in. Take those you lead on team building retreats, seminars, and workshops.
The more you invest in those you lead the more trust and respect you will create.
